WAAAAAH!

OMG! Mommy had the worse experience ever with Tyler crying!! It was nothing she had ever seen before.

On Thursday, January 10th ... mommy decided to bring Tyler to a friend's house for dinner. Tyler has been here before when he was younger, not that he would remember. Anyway ... all was well when they first got there. Tyler was actually cooing and laughing in his car seat. Dinner time strolled around, so mommy took Tyler out of the car seat with intentions of holding him while eating. Something both mommy and daddy has mastered quite nicely.

Aunty Wendy loves carrying Tyler and offered to watch him while mommy ate. So mommy, took the opportunity to do just that. Tyler was okay at first ... but then he started wailing. Nothing seemed to comfort him, so even if it wasn't quite time for him to eat mommy made him a bottle. Aunty Wendy tried feeding him, but he didn't want to eat and instead continued to cry. Mommy tried eating faster, but in the end also tried to comfort Tyler. But he wasn't having it. He kept on crying and crying and crying. Aunty Sylvia then came over to help mommy, so she could try and finish up the last of her dinner. Mommy stuffed her face as fast as she could and Tyler continued crying. Finally when mommy was done ... she again tried to comfort Tyler, but man was he mad. NOTHING worked. She rocked him, bounced him, talk and sang to him, changed his diaper, tried to feed him again, walked around, laid him down ...

By this time, he must have been crying for a good 20 minutes already. Mommy considered trying to leave, in hopes that he would fall asleep in the car ... but at the same time envisioned him crying all the way home. Frustrated, she called daddy who was still at work ... and he said he would finish up as fast as he could and stop by.

Mommy felt so bad. She didn't know what Tyler wanted. She tried everything she could think of and she couldn't manage to comfort her own baby. Practically in tears, she continued to sing and rock him and FINALLY ... FINALLY he went to sleep.

By the time daddy got there, Tyler was fast asleep in mommy's arm. Tyler must have been just tired of crying. He literally screamed bloody murder for a good 30 minutes. This was the first time he's cried for that long. Usually, he'll settle down within 10 minutes or so. Man ... it was a rough night.

4 month old check-up

Tyler went for his 4 month old check up on Friday, January 4th. This appointment was actually supposed to be a follow up for the cold he caught in Hawaii, but since rather than go back next week again, they let us kill 2 birds with one stone. WOOHOO! One less co-payment.

I don't remember the details off-hand, but he's in the 12 lb range and has gotten rather long. Both measurements ON the percentile charts!

Tyler wasn't a happy camper. He got 4 more shots. Mommy wasn't there, but daddy said he cried for quite sometime.

So the APA recommends starting solid foods between the age of 4 - 6 months. Tyler is about 4 months now, but Dr. O recommended us to wait until he is 5 months or so, just because he was born so early. We'd want to make sure his intestinal tract has had time to fully develop.

Mommy can't wait. She already bought him rice cereal, a bowl and spoon set, and plastic bibs. She is jumping the gun a bit, since first they have to incorporate the rice cereal into his milk. :P

Modified work schedule

So, you may (or may not) be wondering, who is going to watch Tyler after daddy has to return to work on the 7th. Well ... fortunately, mommy and daddy found him a daycare center near mommy's work. Unfortunately, they don't have an infant opening until February 19th. This puts mommy and daddy in quite a pickle. The could send Tyler to another daycare for the interim time ... but that would mean having to pay a registration fee and getting all the paperwork done for that center and then having to do it all over again.

Thank goodness for the new age and the INTERNET. Since majority of mommy's job is on the computer, technically she can from from anywhere. So here's the deal ... mommy goes into work early in the morning from 7am - 12pm, she then comes home during lunch and works from there for the rest of the day (1pm - 5pm-ish), while watching Tyler. Daddy does the opposite. He watches Tyler in the morning until lunch, and then goes to work in the afternoon. Daddy doesn't really get to work in the morning because as most babies are, Tyler is a morning person and wants to talk and play with Daddy. Which means ... daddy usually has to work pretty late into the evening.

I'll be the first to tell you that this IS NOT very fun. Watching Tyler and trying to work, isn't very easy ... plus mommy and daddy don't get to see much of each other. But ... we had to do what we had to do. Let the journey begin!

Back to work

Mommy returned to work on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Man, was she NOT excited about it, at all. After 4 months of being off and spending time with Tyler, she really didn't want to go.

That morning, she said goodbye to Tyler and left him in the loving arms of daddy, who had taken off that week to watch him. They would finally get to spending some long over due quality time together. Fun, fun, fun!

Back at work, everyone had tons of questions for mommy. She had only sent a few emails about what happened with the early delivery and they were all still curious on the details. She spent some time talking stories, but most of her day was going through emails. Can you imagine 1000+ emails! It was crazy! In the end, it wasn't as bad as she was expecting. This might sound bad, but it was actually nice to have the time away from baby watching.

Kiddie Kandids (Tyler 10 weeks)

Mommy forgot to post these pictures earlier.

Happy New Year! 2008

We weren't able to do much cleaning up before the new year arrived. But its okay, its really a never ending battle anyway. Especially now that Hoku is shedding again. I never understoo that. It's in the middle of winter and her fur is falling off. Oh well ...

We rang in the new year up in Fremont with our close family friends the Phan's. It was a surprise for them to see mommy and Tyler. They last saw lonely daddy during their Christmas dinner. Everyone was amazed at how big Tyler had grown. For the most part, he was content ... but at times he seemed overwhelmed. I am not sure if it was the location, the amount of people, or the noise ... but he insisted on only letting mommy and daddy carry him the entire night, despite everyone else wanting to.

Too bad Tyler wasn't able to stay up for it all. He nestled quite nicely into his car seat and spent the last of the evening in the bedroom. We all ate, drank, and play Mah Jong. I actually WON too! Amazing. The game is pretty fun. Maybe we should invest in getting a set. :P
