A rough past 2 weeks

Tyler was sick the other week (March 3 - 9) and was on antibiotics for Bronchitis. It was a very rough week for him. He had a slight cough and his nose was congested. Mommy had to use the bulb syringe to clear out his nose every morning. Tyler doesn't like that one bit and usually fusses. But in the end, it helps him out. (not that he realizes it yet)

After he re cooperated from his illness, Tyler had to go back to the doctor (March 13) for his 6 month check up. He weighed a good 14lbs and 7oz. He is a growing boy! He also had to get his vaccinations. 5 of them. :( Daddy said Tyler was brave and only cried for a minute or 2.

The next day, Tyler had a fever of 101 and had to be picked up from daycare early. This wasn't a surprise as a lot of babies will have a reaction to the vaccinations. We gave him infant Tylenol and monitored his temperature throughout the night. Luckily, the fever was gone by morning. He wasn't back to his normal happy self, but nevertheless ... he wasn't Mr. Crabbypants either.

MMmmmMmmm ... Baby food

Mommy has slowly been introducing different baby foods to Tyler. So far he likes carrots and sweet potatoes. After eating squash, he got a late allergic reaction and had what looked to be hives on the back of his neck and face. :(

Oh well ... on to other foods. Dr. said not to give him anymore squash until he's 1 years old.

Tyler also likes bananas and peaches. He doesn't seem to care much for green beans and peas. (mommy is not a fan of those either, so she doesn't blame him). She needs to mix it with his rice cereal to get him to eat it. :)

Next to try will be pears and applesauce.

He will eat these fruits and veggies with rice cereal for a couple more months when he will then get to try meats. YUM!

Daycare

Mommy and daddy's crazy schedule finally ended on Tuesday February 19! That was Tyler's first day at daycare. Mommy had to pack a bag of extra clothes and bottles/milk, lots and lots of diapers (for the entire week), already made formula in bottles for that day, and a blanket.

The daycare is located near mommy's work, so the new plan is for her to drop him off at 8:00am and pick him up at 5:30pm everyday. But for his first day, both mommy and daddy went.

At the daycare, we met the lady in charge, whose name ironically is also Laurie (spelled the same too!) ... and she showed us what to do and where do go. Tyler's classroom is located in the back corner of the center and is a pretty cool place.

The room consists of 2 main sections partitioned by a low wall. A napping section that has individual cribs for all the different babies and a play/eating section with a whole bunch of stuff. There are many many playmats, swings, bookshelves holding books and toys, a cubby bookshelf, refridgerator, table with highchairs, sink, changing table, rocking chairs ... to name most of the big items.

Tyler has his very own crib and cubby to keep all of this things. His teachers are great. Ms Estella and Ms Katie. They are very easy to talk to and have been great with him so far.

Evey morning mommy fills out the top of a sheet with some key information on his last night's and current morning events. (how he sleep, when he woke up, when he last ate, his mood so far this morning, etc ...) And at the bottom of the sheet, they write down each time he is fed and how much he ate, when he naps and for how long, when he had his diaper change and whether it was #1 ,#2 or both, and his general mood and activities throughout the day.

His did pretty well on his first day. Didn't cry immediately after mommy and daddy left. (some kids do) He was so interested in his new surroundings, we're not even sure he noticed we were gone!

It took a few days for him to get use to his new schedule ... but I think he likes it.

Squaw Valley

As usual, mommy is a tad bit behind on Tyler's blog. :(

Better late, then never ... right? :)

We took a trip up to Squaw Valley in Tahoe on Sunday, February 17th. This was Tyler's first official road trip and did really well considering he had to sit in his car seat for over 6 hours (round trip).

The weather was beautiful when we got there. The sun was out and it wasn't crazy cold. Tyler was bundled up in a cool fleece outfit with matching gloves and hat. He also had a waterproof snow outfit! He didn't seem to mind the cold and curiously looked around as we walked through the resort.

We spent just a couple of hours there. We checked out the shops, watched people ski and board down the slopes, and had lunch. We tried taking pictures of Tyler in the snow. Most of them are with mommy, as he still can't really sit on his own. We did try to lay him down on the snow on his snow outfit, but that didn't work too well. It was a pretty relaxing outing for the Rex's. Hopefull we'll get to do it again soon. Mommy was really looking forward to putting Tyler in his snow outfit! Maybe next time.
