Christmas 2008

We spent Christmas here in San Jose this year. On Christmas eve we went to the Phan's for dinner and on Christmas day we went to Haylie's for lunch and to Vance's for dinner.

Tyler got lots of cool presents. Too bad he is still a bit young to enjoy opening them. Mommy tried getting him to rip the paper, which he did for a while ... but then decided the paper was more interesting then the gifts itself.

Here are some pictures of Tyler's 2nd Christmas.

Evan's 2nd Birthday!

Evan had his 2nd birthday at Pump It Up in Morgan Hill. It would be been more fun for Tyler if he was walking, but he still managed to entertain himself with the BIG soccer ball and blue car.

Bryen's 4th Birthday

Went to Bryen's 4th birthday party at their house in Millbrae.

Breakfast with Santa

Tyler's school had breakfast with Santa this past Saturday. He ate pancakes while mommy and daddy had eggs, bacon and tater tots. (1o bucks, not to shabby). Tyler was a bit fussy at first, but warmed up and walked all around with cafeteria holding mommy's hand. He even waited happily to see Santa. But when it was his turn to take a picture with Santa Tyler cried! (as mommy and daddy figured would happen). It's okay ... our friends have told us it could take a few years, LOL.

Afterwards, we went to the school yard to play on the toys. Tyler had fun walking around the little slide.

Baseball toy

Baby Einstein duck toy

Mommy bought this toy a while ago and Tyler never played with it. Now he keeps wanting to press the buttons to hear the music. Over and over and over again.

REX the dinosaur

Daddy bought Tyler Rex the dinosaur. Tyler seems to like him. He even kisses him!

First recorded steps

Take 1 and 2

Walking with the Alphabet Train

Here's T walking with his Alphabet Train toy. Take 1, 2 and 3!

All I want for Xmas is my 2 front teeth

I'm not sure if I've been keeping up with reporting on Tyler's teeth growth. But the latest count that is fully out is still 3 on the bottom.

The top left center is still slowly pushing through and finally the 4th on the bottom has broke through the gums.

Cranky cranky cranky! Tyler didn't sleep well because of his teething. He woke up mommy at 2:30, 5:30 and then finally for good at 6:30. Not fun at all.

Catching up 14 month pics

Mommy has been slacking a bit with the pictures. She still takes them, but hasn't had time to upload them regularly. So here is 14 months ... all in one shot!

the Never ending cough ...

Yep, its baaaack! Bronchitis once more. BOOOO!

Started meds this past Monday (Dec 1) and will be on it for 10 days. 2.5 ML twice a day. Luckily this time there is no vomit (knock on wood!)

First blood shed

After Tyler's amazing performance of walking, we seemed to have gotten him all riled up. He was full of energy and little was bouncing off the walls. This may be a small side affect of the ice cream he had earlier that night, but that's really a mute point.

During this excitement, he was crawling with lightening speed across the kitchen floor when his hand got stuck and his chin came crashing down on the floor. :( Immediate crying and screaming. Poor thing! At first we didn't notice anything, but a minute or 2 later he was bleeding from the mouth. It appears he somehow had cut his upper gums (where is latest tooth is emerging). We cleaned it up and tried applying ice, but he didn't want anything to do with the ice. There was a bit of fussying, but eventually he did calm down.

Mommy was sad. It was the first time she saw Tyler bleed. :(

First official steps

While at the Murakami's watching the UH football game, Tyler surprised us all by taking his first official steps! I say official because it was his first steps (this past Saturday, Nov 29th) all by himself. :)

He was with daddy near the kitchen and just somehow ended up standing there for a few good seconds. We all looked and said "YAY Tyler", which prompted him to clap, LOL. (that's what he thinks YAY means). I was very very cute. Then I went over to call him towards me and he took a few steps! We practiced a few times back and forth between daddy and mommy and I'd have to say, he took a good 10+ steps!

I am VERY excited and I know a lot of you are laughing because once he learns to walk he will NOT keep still. But I already feel that is the case now. Only now, he's crawling and getting all dirty and trying to walk, which makes me nervous. I'm sure in time my blog will come where I complain about the walking, but for the time being ... I am still EXCITED!

Black Friday

Unlike previous years, mommy didn't wake up extra early (4am) to go shopping this year. Ads weren't THAT interesting. Deals didn't seem THAT great. And frankly, there wasn't really anything she needed, LOL.

Hahaha, that's all pretty funny. Even if mommy didn't wake up "early" for shopping, she still went. Tyler still wakes up at 6:30 ... so at 7:00 she was off.

Mommy didn't really buy much ... a Cars playroom set for Tyler, some doggie toys, and most of the children's xmas presents. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The Rex ohana went to spend Thanksgiving with their close family friends in Fremont. (Vu's) It was a great evening. Dinner included all the holiday traditions including some extras ... prime rib, rack of lamb, spam musubis (which daddy slaved and made for once!) You may laugh if you want, but it all was very DELICIOUS!

Tyler took a while to warm up (again!) ... but soon enough he was playing with Andrew. We brought his ATV and remote control, which Andrew played with more than Tyler. LOL But it's okay ... Tyler can play with them anytime.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Eye boogies

Tyler's had a bit of a runny nose for the past week or 2 since he's been teething. Mommy tries her best to wipe away the boogies when she seems them, but looks like some got away.

Tyler's eyes have been a bit gooky, so mommy phoned Dr. O for some advice (this was on Sat, 11.22). After mommy's elaborate description of the "gook" ... turns out Tyler has wiped his boogies into his eyes (on accident, of course) and had a bit of an eye infection.

Medicated eye drops and viola ... it's been getting better day by day now.

Major Over Flow

Boooo on Daddy!

We went to the Murakami's to watch the UH football game (a bit after Vicky's party) on Saturday. As always, it was good food and company. Around half time, Tyler started fussing because he was TIRED, but refused to sleep ... so we decided to head home.

Daddy took him out of the car and transfered him into his room. The next morning rolls around and Tyler promptly wakes up at 6am. Mommy goes to get him and OMG, PEE everywhere!!! Turns out daddy "forgot" to change his diaper the night before. Poor Tyler. I am not sure how long he was soaking wet. Mommy felt so bad, she woke up daddy to scold him and had him give Tyler a bath. In the meantime, mommy had to change the sheets and blankets and get them all washed.

Boo on Daddy!

Unofficial play date

We went to help Aunty Vicky celebrate her "33rd" birthday this past Saturday. Even though the party was for Vicky ... it turned more into a play date. Haylie has LOTS and LOTS of toys! Bryen, Rachael, Haylie, Tyler and Jayden all were there, playing for the most part nicely together. It was actually rather cute! Lots of lessons in sharing, lots of eating, and for Tyler ... some sleeping. LOL

Holiday 2008 Pictures

We were in Hawaii when Tyler turned 1 and "forgot" to take his studio pictures there. Back in Cali, he was either sick or we had other things to do ... so his "1 year" pictures were taken at 14 months and clubbed together with our 2008 holiday pictures.

The session itself didn't go as well as we'd like, since Tyler didn't like the photographer. Nothing personal ... he just takes a while to warm up to new people and unfortunately we didn't have anytime to do that. He fussed a little, but mostly just stared and didn't want to smile. We got a few out of him, but not as much as we would have liked. We had another outfit for him, but didn't even think of trying to change him because he most likely he would have gotten more upset. In the end, I think we got some good shots. Take a look below.

T Rex

Tyler loves throwing balls and then chasing them. Recently he has been pretty amused with bouncing them.

Bear crawling

I think he has figured out that the tile hurts his knees. What a smart guy!

He can go on and on and on ...

Tyler has soo much energy. Mommy and daddy can barely keep up somethings. Here's mommy chasing Tyler around. LOL

Baby Einstein

Tyler still loves watching baby einstein videos. His current favorites are Baby MacDonald, Numbers Nursery, On the go and Baby's' Favorite Places. Here is he's very excited!

Dr. O ... Dr O

Last week Wednesday, Tyler had to go for his flu booster. At around the same time, he also started refusing his bottles. Coincidence? We thought so at first, since getting the flu shot will sometimes show flu like symptoms. So we monitored him for a few days to see if it would get better. He'd drink an ounce here and an ounce there ... but nothing like before. Back to see Dr O. Thankfully, Tyler did NOT have an ear infection, which is what mommy and daddy thought initially ... since past experiences has always been the case. This time, we were surprised with TEETHING! I guess the rest of his teeth ARE coming! We are going to give him so Advil/Tylenol to help relieve the pain, but other than that ... we have to just wait till it's over.

A lot of things are related to this, not just him not drinking. His crabbiness, his sleeping pattern ... I guess it's good to know that it's just not his new personality. He is still the happy go lucky baby we know ... just not now because of his soon to be new teeth.

14 months

Mommy just realized that Tyler turned 14 months this week. This isn't as notable as turning a year old, but still worth a blog entry.

One thing mommy also forgot to mention is that Tyler just started getting his 3rd tooth! I wouldn't say he's behind, but his teeth are surely taking their time to come in. As noted in earlier posts, he is also furniture and wall walking EVERYWHERE.

More fun times for mommy and daddy as they now are constantly making sure he doesn't take too hard of a fall.

Wall walking @ 13 months

Tyler has been furniture walking pretty well for a few weeks now, basically only using our coffee table, couches, and chairs. Just recently ... he started using walls. ANY wall!

Random Pictures of Tyler at 12 months

A year has come and gone as quickly as everyone said it would. We can't believe Tyler is already a year old. It seems not too long ago we brought the little guy home from the hospital.

In this first year ... despite the lack of sleep, mommy and daddy can say it was definitely an adventure we were not prepared for. I don't think anything can prepare you to be a parent. But we are learning along the way and doing a pretty good job, if I must say so myself. We are also looking forward to all the new things to come.

Happy Halloween!

Tyler dressed up as Squirt from Finding Nemo (thanks to Aunty Tammy). Everyone loved his costume. He was the cutest turtle in town! Mommy and daddy were boring and didn't dress up.

We went to visit Vu and family for Halloween. Tracy was a witch, Jay was Dark Vader, Andrew was Bumblebee, Kathleen and Patrick were "Waldo", and Ethan was a pumpkin (i think).

Tyler was a bit clingy when we first got there and took quite sometime to warm up. But, towards the end of the night he was having a great time playing with Andrew.

Cool Beans!

Things have started to "click" for Tyler. He recently started copying things that Brad and I have been showing him.

High 5 and making a noise like an Indian are shown here in this video. He can also clap and sorta wave, but those still yet needs to be captured on camera.

Radio Flyer Wagon

Tyler got the coolest Radio Flyer Wagon for his birthday. It has seat belts, cup holders and even a canopy! :)

Room 12

So, Tyler has been in the "non-mobile" room (room for babies that can't yet crawl) for quite sometime now, even if he is mobile (can crawl). The "crawling" room, or room #12, has not had any openings up until now. That's right, Tyler is finally changing rooms!

Unfortunately this is all coming at the most inopportune time. Last week was suppose to be his "transition week", where he visits the room a few hours a day at the beginning of the week and then gradually staying longer until he's there the entire day at the end of the week. But since he was out Monday and Tuesday ... and then one of the teachers of room 12 didn't come in on Wednesday, he really only had Thursday and Friday for transition. This makes it a little tougher for Tyler, as it takes him a while to get use to new people. He had a pretty rough visit on both Thursday and Friday ... but they say it will all come in time.

Today was his official first day in room 12. When mommy dropped him off this morning Tyler cried really hard (with tears) the entire time. She had given Ms Laurie, as she gave instructions and got his stuff together with Ms Tara. Tyler's eyes never left mommy for one second. When she was done, she assured Tyler that she would be back and waved "bye bye". He cried and watched as she left ... but there wasn't anything she could do. The best thing is to just leave.

Good news though ... when mommy went to pick up Tyler this afternoon it turns out he stopped crying about a minute or 2 after she left. What a relief. He still fussed on and off throughout the day ... but that was to be expected. Hopefully he adjusts well and fast. Mommy is not sure she can take the crying every morning. It almost brought her to tears.

And we all fall down

It's been a pretty crazy past few weeks for the Rex's. Tyler threw up and had to be picked up from daycare on Friday, October 17th. Turns out he had the stomach flu. (no medicine available for this) Not sure how it happened, but ALL of us ended up sick that weekend. It is definitely much harder to take care of a sick baby when you are also sick. We're not exactly sure where we got the "bug" from ... but I guess that doesn't matter.

Mommy and daddy stick it out and still have to work come the following Monday. Lucky for mommy she is able to work from home ... so that is exactly what she did on Monday and Tuesday. At Tyler's Monday follow up ... he seems to slowly be getting better, but now has Bronchitis and on medication he goes. (10 days twice a day).

Although his mood is much better than before, Tyler still coughs quite a bit and sometimes gags because of the coughing and throws up. It's been a LONG week for mommy and daddy. Late nights, early mornings, and tons and tons of laundry. We are hoping he gets better for Halloween ... but we still have a few more days before we can tell for sure.

Finding the perfect pumpkin

We took Tyler to pick a pumpkin this weekend. We even dressed him up in his costume for the occasion. May as well use the costume as much as possible!

There were tons of pumpkins to choose from. Tyler was in a pretty good mood and got strolled along in the wagon for most of it. He didn't seem too interested in the pumpkins itself.

1st hair cut

Tyler had his very first hair cut today at the same place daddy goes to get his hair cut. Daddy held him and mommy tried keeping him busy and feeding him. For the most part, the distractions worked except when they were trying to buzz around his ear. Not sure he liked the noise. Overall, he did MUCH better than we anticipated and mommy and daddy are very proud. He now looks like a little boy!

Here's a few pics during the hair cut and afterwards.

(mommy did save some of his hair!)

49ers and Patriots

Brad and I went to watch the 49ers play the Patriots on Sunday October 5th. It was a big day for everyone ... especially Tyler. He was going to spend the day with Aunty Char for the 1st time.

He fell asleep on the way down to Gilroy and woke up once we got into the house. He was very alert and kept looking around at his new surroundings. We stayed for a while with him and later sneaked out while he was distracted.

The game was fun despite the lost. (21-30). It was just nice to be out doing our own thing for a change. :) Back at Gilroy, Tyler was having a blast. He went walking and to the park and got to ride on the infant swings.

We were very happy that Tyler did well. He did fuss and cry a bit, but it was expected. I think overall, he had a great day and it seems like Aunty Char would sign up to babysit again. :)

Go BOWS!

For the past couple of weekends we've been following the Univerisity of Hawaii Football team. Even if we don't always win it's quite fun. We have been hanging out at the Murakami's and their dog Wicket is very excited to see Tyler. He's a much smaller dog than Hoku and Koa, so it works out well. Tyler chases him occasionally and gets his ears cleaned. Definitely good times!

Tyler's San Jose Birthday Party

We had another party for Tyler here in San Jose. It was the following Saturday after we returned from Hawaii.

We forgot to ask someone to take pictures, so there aren't as many. Mommy and daddy were too busy entertaining, we just didn't have time.

A lot people came and Tyler wouldn't go to any of them. Instead mommy and daddy had carry him around to visit everyone and keep him occupied.

Random Hawaii Pictures

Here are some random pictures from the rest of our Hawaii 2008 trip.

Tyler had a much better 2nd week, as he was then mostly done with being sick. With daddy gone that week, it was a bit of a challenge for mommy mostly during bed time. Tyler still prefers to be rocked by daddy and daddy only.

On a good note, he warmed up nicely to Aunty Tammy and that did give mommy some break time. Grandma and Grandpa were another story. Not sure why, but he still was a bit hesitant around them.

Beach take 3

The third time was NOT a charm. For whatever reason, Tyler hates the beach. He wouldn't even sit on the blanket that laid on the sand. :( We took a few pictures anyway ... enjoy!

Hawaii Chuck E Cheese

We went to Chuck E Cheese twice. The first time Tyler slept the entire time and only the adults played. The second time he had a blast riding all the rides.

Pictures are mixed up, sorry! (too lazy to sort them, hehe)

Honolulu Zoo

It wasn't as big as San Francisco's zoo, but it had a lot of animals. Tyler enjoyed himself and even let Aunty Tammy carry him in the baby bjorn.

Beach take 2

Not much luck the 2nd time either. Still afraid of the sand and cried when mommy tried to take him swimming. In these pictures you'll see some of Tyler's cousins.

Waikiki Aquarium

Teeny tiny aquarium, not worth the out of state price we had to pay to get in. LOL

Tyler's 1st beach experience

Mommy and daddy were very excited to take Tyler to the beach. Too bad Tyler didn't feel the same way. He cried the minute he touched the sand.

Tyler's 1st B-day in Hawaii

ALOOOOHA! Our 2008 trip to Hawaii was to celebrate Tyler's 1st birthday. We flew in on Saturday, August 30th and his party was the very next day. Because of jet lag, the new surroundings, and new people it was a VERY BIG and exhausting day for Tyler. All in all, everyone was very excited to see him and despite him only wanting mommy and daddy to carry him all day long ... the party was a great success.

Jayden's 1st B-day!

Tyler wasn't in a very good mood for Jayden's party, but we did get him to wear a party hat! :P

More Crawling

T's gotten a lot faster at crawling. Although these videos do not show much of it, he does go up on all 4's once in a while. For the time being he's faster on his belly and seems to still prefer that way.

Week 2 of Gma Jenny's Visit

Gma Jenny takes anykine pictures!

4th Swim Class

Tyler has slowly been getting use to going to his swim class. It was daddy's turn!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We took Gma Jenny and Tyler to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was the first time for both of them. Monterey was a bit chiller than what we are use to in San Jose ... but I guess it didn't matter much since the aquarium is inside.

We saw lots and lots of different fish, sea otters, penguins, sharks, stingrays, and jelly fish, just to name a few. We even got lucky and were able to watch the feedings for the penguins and the "BIG" fish .... Mahi Mahi (Dolphin Fish), Tuna, etc. Tyler was wide awake the entire time and watched as the fish swam around. He seemed to like the jelly fish the best ... you'll see why in the pictures. :)

Week 1 of Gma Jenny's Visit

A few quick updates ...

His ear infection is all gone, as of Thursday July 10th
His first tooth is finally showing (bottom)

Grandma Jenny has been having lots of fun with Tyler. It didn't take long for him to warn up to her. She watches him while we are at work ... feeding him, making him nap, playing with him, and all the other funs stuff. Check out some pics!

5th of July BBQ

We had a little BBQ at our place on July 5th. Tyler was excited to see all his friends.

Surprise visitor

Guess who came to visit?!?! Grandma Jenny! She's off for the summer and surprised us all by booking a 2 week vacation to San Jose!

She arrived safely on the eve of the 4th of July. Too bad Tyler was sleeping when she got here. Her flight was an hour delayed and the 87 N was closed, so mommy took an extra 20 - 25 minutes going to the airport on side streets.

Despite the time difference G-ma Jenny was up bright and early to see Tyler when he woke up on Saturday. He took to her quite well, fussing only a little at first. He probably was excited to see a new face, one who was more than willing to give him A LOT of attention.

4th of July and meething Ethan

Happy 4th of July! We went to visit Vu and family for the 4th of July. It was an extra special visit because Tracy (Vu's wife's sister) had just given birth to a new baby boy on the 2nd. He was very adorable with a head full of black hair. Everyone gawked over him and we all enjoyed yummy BBQ.

We actually forgot to take pictures of Ethan, but here are some of Tyler in his patriotic clothes.

Say it isn't so ...

I didn't mention this earlier, mostly because I am so far behind in blogging these days that I am only capturing certain "exciting" things Tyler's been doing lately .... but just to point out the progress of it, Tyler had a slight runny nose last week, probably starting around the 26th or so. (was that a run-on sentence or what? LOL)

Anyway ... as always, mommy monitors the runny nose ... taking out the boogies (if any) and checking its color. For the most part it was clear and nothing to worry about. Towards the weekend, it started to get a little yellow-green ... which sometimes means he is getting sick. :(

With all the ear infections he's been getting lately, we figured it was better to be safe than sorry and took him in to see Dr. O on Monday. Our fears became a reality and Tyler has just started getting a slight ear infection. Back on antibiotics for 10 days!

Not that this has anything to do with the topic ... but for dinner we had good ole Mc Donalds. It was Tylers first ever taste of french fries. Mommy chewed it up for him and he gobbled it up. :P

Phil's Fish Market

Mommy and daddy earned another "date night"! WOOHOO! We went down to Moss Landing to eat at a seafood place which was featured on the Food Network, Phil's Fish Market. The place is very casual and the food was great! We got clam chowder (both Manhattan and New England), fried zucchini, Cioppino, and halibut. MMmmMmm and for dessert strawberry shortcake.

While mommy and daddy were enjoying their seafood feast, Aunty Wendy was back at our place watching Tyler. Now that Tyler is older ... there is much more you can do with him. He loves playing with toys, standing up (with help), making all sorts of sounds, eating puffs, and watching baby Einstein videos. I believe they did them all!

Gilroy Garden

eBay had a picnic at Gilroy Gardens the last weekend of June. It was a nice day to be outside. We enjoyed some free food and Tyler got to ride a few rides.

Take a look at the pictures!

1st Swim Class

We enrolled Tyler in a 10 week swimming class. :) With the weather getting hotter, it should be a great addition to our Sunday. He was a bit scared this first time ... but I'm sure he will enjoy it more soon. Here he is (mommy has to be there, since this is a mommy & me class)

9 Month Pics

Here are some 9 month pictures. Tyler outgrew his infant tub, so we got him a cool rubber ducky! We also had to lower his crib and ... of course he also got more toys!

Back to normal

I am happy to say that this ear infection is now behind us. Tyler had a great week and everything was good at his follow up appointment on Friday (June 20th). He is much happier and back to his normal cheerful self.

He still loves talking to anyone who will listen. He says sounds like ba ba, na na ... and some others we just can't make out. We haven't heard ma ma or da da yet, but we are practicing. He's getting better at holding his bottle, slowly learning how to use a sippy cup, slowly learning how to feed himself finger foods, and now squeals like a pig when we wants our attention. It was cute at first, now the sound is a bit much. LOL! Even so ... we are enjoying watching him learn and grow.

And the saga continues ....

Okay so I don't know how this happened so quickly, but since Tyler's appointment on the 6th ... so much has happened. Here's a quick break down.

June 7-8 - Tyler was a little fussier than normal. Threw up some juice. Had a runny nose. Sleeping very poorly compared to before. He was almost sleeping through the night ... but now he wakes up several times crying.

June 9 - Went to daycare and ended up with a fever of 101.8 and got sent home. Mommy took him to the doctor to find out he has an EAR INFECTION! Different medicine this time. (an amoxicillin mix, twice a day for 10 days). He took it and his fever went down and all seemed well. Still a rather long night.

June 10 - Had a little trouble getting medicine in Tyler. Tastes pretty bad (mommy tried it). It takes both mommy and daddy to give it to him. Forcefully making him take it ... leads him to gag and spit it all up. No fever and since ear infections aren't contagious he went to daycare. Stayed at daycare the entire day, but had a rough day. Wasn't his usual self. (they said). Fussy fussy fussy ... slight fever at night. Appetite is less. Won't drink his bottle, but will take some solid foods. Had a hard time with the medicine again, this time he forcefully threw up. Another long night.

June 11 - still had a slight fever in the morning. Refuses to take medicine. We tried mixing it in his food, but he knows better! Plus he still won't drink or eat much. Mommy WFH to take care of Tyler. She went back to the pharmacy to add more flavoring to the medicine. Tyler still won't take it. He's probably getting less than half of what he should be. (but at least he didn't spit up or throw up) Fever gone. He's been eating mostly puffs, but at least that's something. Another long night.

June 12 - No fever and seemed in a bit better mood. Gave as much medicine as we could in his milk and food. Tried daycare -- mommy had a few things she needed to do at work. After feeding him breakfast @ daycare he threw up. Mommy went to get him and took him back to the doctor. Ear infection getting worse, probably since he isn't taking his full dose of medicine. New plan ... no more oral medicine. Injection time. 2 injections 1 in each leg. Tyler CRIES a lot. At home, mommy and daddy need to run the shower really hot and let Tyler sit in the steam for a good 10 minutes per doctor orders. This is to help relieve some of the pressure on his ears which causes the pain. In addition, he also prescribed an ear drop which acts like an anesthesia to also help with the pain. Mommy was very excited about this, as she was not happy seeing Tyler in pain. As if things weren't hard enough ... these stupid drops were like honey! We had to hold Tyler on his side for a good few minutes to get them to seep in his ear. He screamed the entire time! And as you can probably guess ... yet another long night.

June 13 - Mommy takes off from work to take care of Tyler. Another doctor's appointment for the next dose via shots. Somehow Tyler has lost a pound. He is also quite needy and wants constant attention. Luckily mommy is here to do just that. They play together, run a few errands, and nap. Used ear drops and did another steam. Overall, it was a pretty good day. Night, still not very good. :(

June 14 - Weekend is here. Daddy and mommy both caring for Tyler. He seems to be doing A LOT better. Eating a little more. Back to the doctor for another set of shots. He gained a few oz back. :) Still doing drops and steaming. Things are starting to look up again.

June 15 - Father's day! Tyler helps mommy make breakfast in bed for daddy. Then its offer to the doctor for the last day of shots. After a long nap ... Tyler is in a MUCH better mood. He started drinking his bottles and eating like normal today. Mommy and daddy were really happy! Continuing with steaming ... drops not needed anymore.

WHEW! Like I said, A LOT has happened. Let's all hope, this one is now behind us.

9 month check up

Took Tyler for his 9 month check up the other Friday (June 6th). He is doing well. Finally in the 25% for weight in at 8lbs and 10 oz. Doc says he is more brain then belly since his head right on track. hehe

No shots at this check up, just a prick on his toe to get blood for an anemia test. Also a written evaluation to check for any early signs of autism. Passed with flying colors. :)

Carpet

This is not 100% related to Tyler, but it was something done for Tyler ... so I figured it was worth mentioning. For those of you who don't know ... our entire downstairs flooring is/was ceramic tile, while upstairs is bamboo wood. Both, rather hard for a baby learning to crawl. Last weekend we got 2 pieces of carpet made and put it in our living room and family room. It came out pretty nice. (Don't mind the mess, we are still cleaning!)

Cars PJs

Mommy bought Tyler a new pair of PJs. For some reason he fits the size 12 months. Here he is wearing them and talking early early in the morning.

Baby Einstein Exersaucer

Mommy's co-worker's are so cool! We got a free Baby Einstein Exersaucer for Tyler. Now we have one for up stairs AND one for downstairs. He was very very excited to play in it tonight.

Squeaky Clean

Cherry Picking

We took Tyler up to Brentwood to pick cherries. He was happy to be outside and enjoyed mommy strolling and carrying him around. Poor daddy was the one stuck picking the yummy cherries. Rainier for $2.00 a lb and Bing for $1.50 a lb. Not bad, I say!

Cool Car

We thought of getting Tyler this cool walker!

Chuck E Cheese

Tyler's first Chuck E Cheese was for Andrew's 3rd birthday! He's a bit young to enjoy it just yet, but mommy and daddy surely had fun. LOL, just joking. We made sure Tyler enjoyed himself.

Memorial Day Weekend Fun!?!?!

To begin our 3 day weekend, Tyler vomits all over mommy Friday night during dinner. We take yet another trip to the doctor on Saturday to find out that the poor guy has another ear infection! GRR! When will this madness stop? He's back on antibiotics (the one that makes his poopy red, lol) for 10 days and then has a follow up appointment.

$20.00 for doctors appointment
$10.00 for antibiotics

PRICELESS for a baby who is so precious and such a good sport that he still smiles and plays despite his sore ear.

On Saturday, we didn't do much. Some laundry, some light shopping, some housework. LOL

On Sunday, we went to Chuck E Cheese for our friend's son's 3rd Birthday party. I must say the pizza was pretty bad, but the chicken wings ... I actually liked.

On Monday, in the morning daddy went golfing and Tyler was subject to another day of shopping with mommy. Not that he should complain, he is still the one who always gets the most things. Shirts for $3 ... who could resist? If the afternoon, we all went up to the park to visit Aunty Wendy and our friends. Tyler had fun playing and actually fell asleep. We didn't get to stay too long.

On Tuesday ... back at work. :(

Chopped Liver

Recently, Tyler has been preferring daddy to put him to sleep. Poor mommy is now chopped liver. On the bright side, she can usually "try" to sleep early. Can't say this always works, as there is always something that needs to be done. In any event ... I know that babies go through such phases. It just makes me feel sad right now.

Forgot to post these earlier.

Tiger Ball Toy

Now that Tyler can pretty much sit by himself, mommy has been opening his toys that's been piling up in his closet. His room has so much JUNK! Well not real junk, but stuff. He seems very interested in mostly eating the balls for now. But we'll be teaching him how to make some baskets!

Date Night

Mommy and Daddy finally got to go out on a long awaited date night. Aunty Wendy actually came up with the idea and happily volunteered to watch Tyler. Tyler has been getting a little more observant to his surroundings including who is with him ... so we hoped and prayed he wouldn't give Aunty Wendy too hard of a time.

We said "Goodbye" and waved happily as he bounced in the jumperoo and headed to the movies. Iron Man was actually good and not what mommy had expected. But dinner was even better! YUMMY YUMMY food from Los Gatos Brewing Company. (Mussels, surf and turf ... mmMMmMm mmMmMm good!) It was definitely a well deserved and long over due night out.

Back at home, Tyler was still up and happily watching baby einstein with Aunty Wendy. All had gone very well. Tyler had his moods ... but he does so even with us. They played, had dinner, and had lots of fun. Thanks so much Wendy!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! Tyler made mommy a wonderful present at daycare ... take a look!

Daddy also got mommy a cool present. She is using it to type and publish this post as we speak.

It was mommy's first mother's day, so it was very special. She won't ever forget it and look forward to many more to come.

All better (for the most part)

Tyler finished his medication on Sunday. He is no longer throwing up or having extra watery poops! WOOHOO! He still fusses more than normal, but we are hoping that is due to teething. We aren't 100% sure that's the case, but its better to think that for the time being. He HAS started drooling more and stuffs everything he can into his mouth. So ... it IS a possibility.

We're just happy he is all better now. His sleeping pattern also seems to be going back to normal. We are still looking forward to him sleeping through the night. Hopefully that happens soon!

Leap Frog Tummy Toy

Here's a tummy time toy that mommy got for Tyler. He still hates being on his Tummy, but at least now he can last just a tiny bit longer.

the Chicken Dance

Tyler got some goodies from Grandpa Rex and his co-workers the other week. Here he is watching his new chicken toy. LOL

Sick, sick, sick

Tyler has been slowly getting better. Mommy and daddy kept him home Monday and Tuesday and picked him up early on Thursday. He seems to not be tolerating his milk very well and has been drinking a lot of pedialyte. He has been taking his antibiotics, but it has been very challenging to get him to take it. Now that he is older he will keep turning his head with his mouth tightly closed.

His other new thing is sleeping LATE at night (after 11pm) and waking up at 3 or 4 wanting to play. We're not sure why this is happening, but we are almost zombies because of it. In any event, we can't wait till Tyler is all better. Now that he cries with "real" tears, it is so sad when he does.

Happy Boys Day!

Today is Tyler's very first boys day! One mommy and daddy will always remember because Tyler is SICK again! He had a runny nose last week and then inherited a cough. On Sunday he threw up his night time bottle of 5oz all over our bed and woke up with a fever Monday morning. So after a doctor's appointment today ... he has bronchitis and is on antibiotics for the week.

Below are some pictures mommy was able to take yesterday before the mishap. She tried to make the background white with a sheet, but as you can see, it didn't work out very well.

Sears Portrait Studios

Mommy had really wanted to take Tyler for studio pictures at 6 months ... but he got sick and then had rash. :( So instead, we just went for 7 3/4 months. Tyler did a great job. Mommy and daddy are proud.

We have been trying and trying to get Tyler to hold his own bottle. Look!

Sitting like a big boy

We went to our friend Steve's house last night (Thursday, April 24) for a crab fest dinner. Here is Tyler sitting on the floor.

100th Post!

The title has nothing to do with the post really. Just thought it would be worth noting that I made it to 100! Woohoo!

Here's Tyler playing with a car at my co-worker's desk.

Take your kids to work day

Yesterday was Take your kids to work day and mommy was able to bring Tyler by in the afternoon for a few hours. He spent most of his day being strolled around and meeting mommy's co-worker's all who had fun watching him smile and shove everything and anything into his mouth.

Here are a few pictures of the event. Tyler even got a COOL eBay badge. Mommy will take a picture of it later and add it to the slideshow. Enjoy!

Should be sleeping

It's only 10:30pm, but mommy should be sleeping. It's her turn to take care of Tyler tonight. Mommy and daddy take turns. :) For a while there, he was actually almost sleeping through the night. Waking up around between 4-5am and letting mommy/daddy rock him back to sleep without a bottle. It was great! We thought this was it and that we were home free ... BUT just recently he seems to be in a growth spurt and is eating like crazy! Which unfortunately means ... wanting (probably not needing) a night time feeding. Depending on what time he sleeps and gets his bedtime bottle ... the feeding will range from between 2 - 4am.

It's actually not too bad. For the most part, mommy and daddy are now use to getting less sleep and being tired all day. LOL As much as we try to catch up ... it just never happens.

Anyways ... I tried changing the blog a little. Like the new layout?

Exersaucer again

Now that Tyler is older, he plays more vigorously in the exersaucer.

Visiting Evan

This past weekend we went down to Girloy to visit Evan. Check out the pictures.
Evan was kind enough to let Tyler borrow his Jumperoo. He's a big boy now and no longer needs it.

Action Day

Just so y'all have a better picture ... here's some photo's I took at Tyler's school.

Isn't that table cool? It has seats right in there. :)

Tyler's School Art Work

Tyler's been pretty busy at school lately. During the month of March he was sent home with some art work. Check out his masterpieces!

Practicing sitting

Tyler is getting strong and can almost sit up all by himself. He uses his arms to balance! Mommy is not very fond of her appearance in this video, so please please concentrate on TYLER. :P

Rolling over

Tyler's already rolled over a bunch of times ... usually on accident (i think). Here's the first one caught on camera with a purpose.

He really loves that dinosaur!

Hand foot and mouth

Not sure if any of you noticed, but Tyler appeared to have a slight rash on his forehead and chin. It's sort of visible in his last set of pictures at Happy Hallow. Anyhoo ... apparently there was an outbreak of hand foot and mouth at his daycare and lucky Tyler was one of the ones to get it.

After a quick visit to Dr. O's yet again on Monday, April 7th it was confirmed.
He also got it on his bum, where I think it irritates him the most. We got ointment to put on to keep it from getting infected, but since this is a viral infection we have to let it take its course and just hope for a speedy recovery.

Happy Hallow Park and Zoo

Today Tyler, mommy, and Aunty Wendy went to Happy Hallow Park and Zoo in San Jose. It was a sunny day, but a bit chilly. Tyler rode on his very first ride, the merry go round. He was very interested in the pole and kept staring and hitting it. Mommy is not sure he realized he was going up and down on the horse and around in circles. It doesn't matter though. He seemed to have fun. Tyler also got to ride on a dragon train. Mommy held him and he just stared out and watched the scenery as we rode around the park.

After checking out the park side, we all headed over to the zoo, where Tyler decided to take a nap. Mommy and Aunty Wendy still checked out the animals and pushed Tyler around. It was too bad he was sleeping, there was a mini petting zoo where he could have fed the animals. Oh well ... maybe next time.

Check out the pictures Aunty Wendy took.

Future MVP

Tyler's First Thanksgiving

A growing boy

Tyler is growing and getting big so fast. Trying to remember him a couple of months ago is actually a blur. Mommy is glad she's been taking A LOT of pictures and recording his major milestone events on a calendar. She can't say daddy has helped much in this department, but he has become very good at bathing T and putting him to sleep. I am not sure what it is, but some days Tyler seems to prefer daddy to put him to sleep. Mommy tries her best to copy daddy's technique, but she can't hold him in the exact same comfortable way. It's okay though ... mommy gets to feed him all the time and that is usually fun. He is a very BIG eater. He loves his solid foods and almost always snubs his bottle. Mommy has to give him his milk in rice cereal and oatmeal.

He is a lot more alert now and knows how to get attention when he wants it. He has his normal babbling sounds when he's playing, but it is very obvious when he is upset. It's not really a cry, but its definitely a come and look at me noise. We've bought him several new toys that he has been enjoying playing with. One of his favorites seem to be a piano. He loves to hit things and the piano plays music and lights up when he hits it. He smiles and babbles when he plays. It is so cute! He's growing up so fast. Just like how everyone said he would. Mommy and daddy are so proud.

A little late ... but here are some more pictures of Tyler when he was 5 months.

Wonderful Day!

This may be silly to post, but I couldn't help it. Everyday at daycare Tyler gets a paper filled out on how he did. For the most part we have gotten ... Tyler had an "okay" day or Tyler had a pretty good/good day.

Monday, March 31st was a surprise to both mommy and daddy when his paper read "Tyler had a WONDERFUL day!" It was awesome. We were so proud of him. He seems to like daycare and we are glad that he has fun there. Just thought I'd share this. :D

A rough past 2 weeks

Tyler was sick the other week (March 3 - 9) and was on antibiotics for Bronchitis. It was a very rough week for him. He had a slight cough and his nose was congested. Mommy had to use the bulb syringe to clear out his nose every morning. Tyler doesn't like that one bit and usually fusses. But in the end, it helps him out. (not that he realizes it yet)

After he re cooperated from his illness, Tyler had to go back to the doctor (March 13) for his 6 month check up. He weighed a good 14lbs and 7oz. He is a growing boy! He also had to get his vaccinations. 5 of them. :( Daddy said Tyler was brave and only cried for a minute or 2.

The next day, Tyler had a fever of 101 and had to be picked up from daycare early. This wasn't a surprise as a lot of babies will have a reaction to the vaccinations. We gave him infant Tylenol and monitored his temperature throughout the night. Luckily, the fever was gone by morning. He wasn't back to his normal happy self, but nevertheless ... he wasn't Mr. Crabbypants either.

MMmmmMmmm ... Baby food

Mommy has slowly been introducing different baby foods to Tyler. So far he likes carrots and sweet potatoes. After eating squash, he got a late allergic reaction and had what looked to be hives on the back of his neck and face. :(

Oh well ... on to other foods. Dr. said not to give him anymore squash until he's 1 years old.

Tyler also likes bananas and peaches. He doesn't seem to care much for green beans and peas. (mommy is not a fan of those either, so she doesn't blame him). She needs to mix it with his rice cereal to get him to eat it. :)

Next to try will be pears and applesauce.

He will eat these fruits and veggies with rice cereal for a couple more months when he will then get to try meats. YUM!

Daycare

Mommy and daddy's crazy schedule finally ended on Tuesday February 19! That was Tyler's first day at daycare. Mommy had to pack a bag of extra clothes and bottles/milk, lots and lots of diapers (for the entire week), already made formula in bottles for that day, and a blanket.

The daycare is located near mommy's work, so the new plan is for her to drop him off at 8:00am and pick him up at 5:30pm everyday. But for his first day, both mommy and daddy went.

At the daycare, we met the lady in charge, whose name ironically is also Laurie (spelled the same too!) ... and she showed us what to do and where do go. Tyler's classroom is located in the back corner of the center and is a pretty cool place.

The room consists of 2 main sections partitioned by a low wall. A napping section that has individual cribs for all the different babies and a play/eating section with a whole bunch of stuff. There are many many playmats, swings, bookshelves holding books and toys, a cubby bookshelf, refridgerator, table with highchairs, sink, changing table, rocking chairs ... to name most of the big items.

Tyler has his very own crib and cubby to keep all of this things. His teachers are great. Ms Estella and Ms Katie. They are very easy to talk to and have been great with him so far.

Evey morning mommy fills out the top of a sheet with some key information on his last night's and current morning events. (how he sleep, when he woke up, when he last ate, his mood so far this morning, etc ...) And at the bottom of the sheet, they write down each time he is fed and how much he ate, when he naps and for how long, when he had his diaper change and whether it was #1 ,#2 or both, and his general mood and activities throughout the day.

His did pretty well on his first day. Didn't cry immediately after mommy and daddy left. (some kids do) He was so interested in his new surroundings, we're not even sure he noticed we were gone!

It took a few days for him to get use to his new schedule ... but I think he likes it.

Squaw Valley

As usual, mommy is a tad bit behind on Tyler's blog. :(

Better late, then never ... right? :)

We took a trip up to Squaw Valley in Tahoe on Sunday, February 17th. This was Tyler's first official road trip and did really well considering he had to sit in his car seat for over 6 hours (round trip).

The weather was beautiful when we got there. The sun was out and it wasn't crazy cold. Tyler was bundled up in a cool fleece outfit with matching gloves and hat. He also had a waterproof snow outfit! He didn't seem to mind the cold and curiously looked around as we walked through the resort.

We spent just a couple of hours there. We checked out the shops, watched people ski and board down the slopes, and had lunch. We tried taking pictures of Tyler in the snow. Most of them are with mommy, as he still can't really sit on his own. We did try to lay him down on the snow on his snow outfit, but that didn't work too well. It was a pretty relaxing outing for the Rex's. Hopefull we'll get to do it again soon. Mommy was really looking forward to putting Tyler in his snow outfit! Maybe next time.

Exersaucer

Mommy bought Tyler an exersaucer a few weeks ago. Depending on his mood, Tyler will play in it for up to 10 minutes. It seems to take a lot of his energy to keep himself up and steady. He's a bit wobbly, but it's definitely helping out his coordination.

He doesn't use his feet as much as he should, but he is slowly getting the hang of it. He reaches out to play with all the different toys and can trigger the music to play on his own.

Bumbo

Tyler borrowed Evan's bumbo chair to practice sitting. Right away Tyler seemed to like it. He's a bit wobbly in it, but does really well. Mommy and daddy has to watch him carefully when he's in it. A lot of times he hunches forward and then gets upset, lol.

Rice Cereal

Tyler made 5 months last week and graduated to SOLID foods. Mommy and daddy fed him rice cereal for the first time this weekend (Saturday, Feb 9th) and boy was it messy!

At first he didn't know what to do as the spoon approached his mouth. Mommy had to be very sneaky to get it into his mouth. At first his tongue kept pushing the food out, but I think after a while he was swallowing some of it.

Daddy has it all on video, so maybe one day it will be uploaded to YouTube. :)

Now everyday mommy is going to try feeding him rice cereal. It's only 1 ounce, which looks so little in his bowl ... but it takes a good 15 minutes to feed him. :P

Super Bowl

Mommy and daddy hosted a super bowl party this year. Lots of friends came over to enjoy the game and play video games. Hoku and Koa were very excited to get the extra attention ... especially since two other dogs (Wicket and Mochi) came to visit.

Tyler on the other hand, feel asleep in Aunty Joyce's arms for most of the game. Aunty Wendy fed him when he woke up and he was actually in a pretty good mood. He watched the TV screen as they played rock band and let a few other people (Derrick and Cindi) hold him.

It seems he doesn't mind lots of people as much, if we are at our house. So I guess that means ... more dinner parties for us. :)

4 month old pictures

Ho Hum

Mommy's been slacking a bit here on the blog. Sorry folks! Work has been keeping her very very busy. :(

A quick update on Tyler ... since the last entry, he has been back to Brian & Sylvia's and did just fine. He must have just had a bad day that other time.

Tyler is a lot more social now. He smiles when smiled at and has started giggling and laughing at times. He is becoming much more aware of who is carrying him now. If he is in a good mood, he'll let pretty much anyone hold him ... but if he is kind of fussy, he prefers mommy and daddy.

Tyler is slowly exploring the world around him. He makes more of an effort to grab things and can hold on to them for a little while. He gets excited and kicks his feet if you show him his favorite toy rattle and dinosaur. It is very cool to watch him.

Tyler actively sucks his fingers and hands and drools like a faucet. At his last checkup, he wasn't teething ... but its been over a month since then, so who knows now. If he's not wearing a big, he can soak up his shirt in less than 30 minutes. One of his favorite things to do is to spit up his hands and touch mommy and daddy. EEWW! :P

Tyler hasn't yet mastered rolling over, but can do it with assitance. On his own, he turns in his crib (from horizontal to vertical or vice versa) and can push a button on his crib toy to make it play songs. He also just found his feet. He lifts them up and tries to grab them. They haven't yet made it into his mouth, but I'm sure that time is coming.

WAAAAAH!

OMG! Mommy had the worse experience ever with Tyler crying!! It was nothing she had ever seen before.

On Thursday, January 10th ... mommy decided to bring Tyler to a friend's house for dinner. Tyler has been here before when he was younger, not that he would remember. Anyway ... all was well when they first got there. Tyler was actually cooing and laughing in his car seat. Dinner time strolled around, so mommy took Tyler out of the car seat with intentions of holding him while eating. Something both mommy and daddy has mastered quite nicely.

Aunty Wendy loves carrying Tyler and offered to watch him while mommy ate. So mommy, took the opportunity to do just that. Tyler was okay at first ... but then he started wailing. Nothing seemed to comfort him, so even if it wasn't quite time for him to eat mommy made him a bottle. Aunty Wendy tried feeding him, but he didn't want to eat and instead continued to cry. Mommy tried eating faster, but in the end also tried to comfort Tyler. But he wasn't having it. He kept on crying and crying and crying. Aunty Sylvia then came over to help mommy, so she could try and finish up the last of her dinner. Mommy stuffed her face as fast as she could and Tyler continued crying. Finally when mommy was done ... she again tried to comfort Tyler, but man was he mad. NOTHING worked. She rocked him, bounced him, talk and sang to him, changed his diaper, tried to feed him again, walked around, laid him down ...

By this time, he must have been crying for a good 20 minutes already. Mommy considered trying to leave, in hopes that he would fall asleep in the car ... but at the same time envisioned him crying all the way home. Frustrated, she called daddy who was still at work ... and he said he would finish up as fast as he could and stop by.

Mommy felt so bad. She didn't know what Tyler wanted. She tried everything she could think of and she couldn't manage to comfort her own baby. Practically in tears, she continued to sing and rock him and FINALLY ... FINALLY he went to sleep.

By the time daddy got there, Tyler was fast asleep in mommy's arm. Tyler must have been just tired of crying. He literally screamed bloody murder for a good 30 minutes. This was the first time he's cried for that long. Usually, he'll settle down within 10 minutes or so. Man ... it was a rough night.

4 month old check-up

Tyler went for his 4 month old check up on Friday, January 4th. This appointment was actually supposed to be a follow up for the cold he caught in Hawaii, but since rather than go back next week again, they let us kill 2 birds with one stone. WOOHOO! One less co-payment.

I don't remember the details off-hand, but he's in the 12 lb range and has gotten rather long. Both measurements ON the percentile charts!

Tyler wasn't a happy camper. He got 4 more shots. Mommy wasn't there, but daddy said he cried for quite sometime.

So the APA recommends starting solid foods between the age of 4 - 6 months. Tyler is about 4 months now, but Dr. O recommended us to wait until he is 5 months or so, just because he was born so early. We'd want to make sure his intestinal tract has had time to fully develop.

Mommy can't wait. She already bought him rice cereal, a bowl and spoon set, and plastic bibs. She is jumping the gun a bit, since first they have to incorporate the rice cereal into his milk. :P

Modified work schedule

So, you may (or may not) be wondering, who is going to watch Tyler after daddy has to return to work on the 7th. Well ... fortunately, mommy and daddy found him a daycare center near mommy's work. Unfortunately, they don't have an infant opening until February 19th. This puts mommy and daddy in quite a pickle. The could send Tyler to another daycare for the interim time ... but that would mean having to pay a registration fee and getting all the paperwork done for that center and then having to do it all over again.

Thank goodness for the new age and the INTERNET. Since majority of mommy's job is on the computer, technically she can from from anywhere. So here's the deal ... mommy goes into work early in the morning from 7am - 12pm, she then comes home during lunch and works from there for the rest of the day (1pm - 5pm-ish), while watching Tyler. Daddy does the opposite. He watches Tyler in the morning until lunch, and then goes to work in the afternoon. Daddy doesn't really get to work in the morning because as most babies are, Tyler is a morning person and wants to talk and play with Daddy. Which means ... daddy usually has to work pretty late into the evening.

I'll be the first to tell you that this IS NOT very fun. Watching Tyler and trying to work, isn't very easy ... plus mommy and daddy don't get to see much of each other. But ... we had to do what we had to do. Let the journey begin!

Back to work

Mommy returned to work on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Man, was she NOT excited about it, at all. After 4 months of being off and spending time with Tyler, she really didn't want to go.

That morning, she said goodbye to Tyler and left him in the loving arms of daddy, who had taken off that week to watch him. They would finally get to spending some long over due quality time together. Fun, fun, fun!

Back at work, everyone had tons of questions for mommy. She had only sent a few emails about what happened with the early delivery and they were all still curious on the details. She spent some time talking stories, but most of her day was going through emails. Can you imagine 1000+ emails! It was crazy! In the end, it wasn't as bad as she was expecting. This might sound bad, but it was actually nice to have the time away from baby watching.

Kiddie Kandids (Tyler 10 weeks)

Mommy forgot to post these pictures earlier.

Happy New Year! 2008

We weren't able to do much cleaning up before the new year arrived. But its okay, its really a never ending battle anyway. Especially now that Hoku is shedding again. I never understoo that. It's in the middle of winter and her fur is falling off. Oh well ...

We rang in the new year up in Fremont with our close family friends the Phan's. It was a surprise for them to see mommy and Tyler. They last saw lonely daddy during their Christmas dinner. Everyone was amazed at how big Tyler had grown. For the most part, he was content ... but at times he seemed overwhelmed. I am not sure if it was the location, the amount of people, or the noise ... but he insisted on only letting mommy and daddy carry him the entire night, despite everyone else wanting to.

Too bad Tyler wasn't able to stay up for it all. He nestled quite nicely into his car seat and spent the last of the evening in the bedroom. We all ate, drank, and play Mah Jong. I actually WON too! Amazing. The game is pretty fun. Maybe we should invest in getting a set. :P
